YORKIE FOSTER HOMES NEEDED |

One of the great unknowns of rescue work is when the next dog is going to be coming and where it will be coming from. We also never know exactly what the medical needs of any dog will be until we get them in and have check-ups done to see what is required before they can go out to "forever homes."
For this reason we are in constant need of foster homes for our Yorkies until we can get all vet work done and match them up with appropriate families. It is important that our foster families meet the same strict guidelines imposed on our adoptive parents. It is critical that each dog has a safe temporary environment with someone who has the patience and love to help that animal work through issues that can range from the need for potty training to working through behavioral or even health issues. Typically our Yorkies are with their foster homes only for short periods of time...usually within a month they are adopted to their new homes.
From time to time we also have seniors come to us who may require more attention and/or longer stays with foster homes. Through our seniors programs we work to educate people that Yorkies can have life spans of 15-16 years or more if well cared for. So a 10 year old dog isn't necessarily "old" by Yorkie standards and can often be a perfect fit for older adults who would love to have a lap dog.
Occasionally we have special needs Yorkies who may have come from puppy mill operations or less than desireable backgrounds where they may have been abused or neglected. These dogs usually require longer periods of time with foster homes for rehabilitation and socialization so that they can be adopted.
All vet and medical expenses as well as any pull fees to shelters are covered by our rescue group. It is the responsibility of our fosters to cover the day to day care of any Yorkie in their care. Foster parents will also need to transport to veterinarians for medical care as needed and be available to meet with potential adoptive parents before adoption occurs. Mileage as well as any expenses incurred on the part of the foster parents are tax deductible.
We are in constant need of foster homes in all areas around North and South Carolina so we have ready homes for our Yorkies as they come to us.
To volunteer as a foster parent for our Yorkies please fill out the Foster Application and submit online. Additionally membership in our rescue group is a requirement. Your help is greatly appreciated.
