Our volunteers are very special people...
They give many hours to yorkies who may not be so fortunate as their own Yorkie families. They rush to help strays that have wound up in shelters before they are euthanized. They take in Yorkies that have been surrendered for whatever reason and make sure they are placed into a into a new loving home rather than out on the streets or into a shelter where they are likely to be euthanized. They often drive many hours and long miles to pick up Yorkies who need their help. They rehabilitate Yorkies who have lived in puppy mill kennels all of their lives and know nothing more. They lovingly foster Yorkies until a perfect "forever home" can be found. They get attached to the little ones who so need their help. And, yes, they cry when those babies have to move on to that "forever home" so they can help the next one. They often get so attached to those fosters that they simply can't give them up and the family suddenly grows larger. But that is the job of a rescue group. We love the breed and that is why we're here. One look into the grateful eyes of a Yorkie in need is the only thank you that is required.
